Ms. Jeannie Davenport
Welcome to 5th grade! I am thrilled to be your teacher and am so excited to spend the year with you and your child! I began my teaching career at Holly Springs Elementary as a 3rd grade teacher in January 1997. I taught 3rd grade for 14 years before making a change to 5th grade! This year begins my seventh year as a 5th grade teacher, and I absolutely love it!
Childhood
My roots begin near Salisbury, NC in a little town called Rockwell. My family moved to Monroe, NC and I attended Unionville Elementary where my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Whitley, ignited my passion to teach! I then attended Sun Valley Middle and Sun Valley High where I graduated. I love sports and played basketball and softball from an early age.
Education
I knew I wanted to pursue a career in education and was awarded the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship. I earned a Psychology degree from NC State University (yes, I am and will always be a Wolfpack girl) and my K-6 teaching licensure from Meredith College. I earned my National Board Certification in 2001 and renewed my certification in 2011.
Family
I have two important men in my life --- my wonderful 18 year old son, Trevor, and our sweet dog, Harley Jack, who just turned 2.
Hobbies & Interests
I love spending time with family and friends, being outside, and staying active. Running is my favorite way to stay in shape, and Harley loves to go when it's not too hot. I love curling up with a great book, especially when I'm at my favorite place - the beach!
